Country music is storytelling like no other genre. It never ceases to amaze how seasoned, "tough" men can write sensitive, touching lyrics in which vulnerability and the admission of one's own weaknesses find their place.
This is exactly what Fredi Frueh likes. A song must not only appeal to him musically, but also in terms of its message: "A song must radiate warmth and make you think. And above all, it has to take you on a journey."
For Fredi, the connection with nature as a source of peace, strength and inspiration is the essence of "his" country style. He illustrates this beautifully in his video for his song "This Is Alfred".
Fredi Früh's performances captivate with their authenticity. From the very first note, the audience realizes that there is someone on stage who plays and sings exactly what he lives. This is particularly evident in his own compositions, of which nothing else can be said except "go straight to the heart". But Fredi Früh's interpretations also breathe new life into the covered songs and inspire. This is not least due to Fredi's unique voice, which always makes you wonder why he didn't start his solo career earlier.
After his first performance, we decided that he MUST give a concert in our Kronensaal at least once a year!
Max Benz, manager of the Hotel Kronenhof in Affoltern ZH.
On 03.03.23 the time had come: with his warm and soulful voice and his versatile guitar playing, he enchanted his audience for the first time in the Kronensaal in Affoltern, Zurich.
Thanks to the finely tuned repertoire and the great audience, his secret plan was a success. The full-length live album of this evening, which also contains original compositions, was released on 15.07.23.
In addition to developing a coherent solo program, Fredi is equally fascinated by giving the songs the perfect polish as a producer in the studio. At the same time, he also worked on his studio album "This Is Alfred", on which his white Stratocaster is used again. Fredi recorded all the instruments for this album himself. But what would this work be without the special golden glow of the contributions of the two pedal steel guitarists Roland Jud (CH) and Johan Jansen (NL)! "This Is Alfred" was released on 15.09.23
However, his new passion for country music is not the first change of culture in his eventful life, because like most people who are over 60, he has his musical roots in pop, rock and blues.
As a producer, he has already completed several albums in various genres. Mention should be made here of the two world music albums with his band "Govinda Express" and the fusion album "Anugraha - The Early Bird" which can be found on Spotify etc.
It's been a good three years since Fredi Frueh, former guitarist of the seven-piece Americana band ClinTonics, decided to go his own way. Instead of coaxing melodious guitar licks out of his white Stratocaster, he discovered his voice and now prefers to sing the Folsom Prison Blues. Singing classic country songs and accompanying them with his black acoustic guitar has become his new thing!
